Ciba Vision, Acuvue and Purevision Multifocal Contact Lenses Battle For Dominance

Publish by : andy hardware

It sounds like a cheap new game show, but it's actually a new advance in contact lenses. A plethora of new products have hit the market promising unprecedented levels of comfort and usability. One of the latest and most high end products are the Purevision Multifocal contact lenses. First of all let's take a look at how the Purevision Multifocal Contact Lenses work.

The biggest problem with wearing contacts is the flow of air to the cornea. For example, some, like the Purevision Multifocal Contact lenses, are marketed as a great boom to presbyotic patients. Others simply promise better comfort and longer wear. Ciba Vision, meanwhile, base their hopes on O2 Optix, also known as Air Optix.

Tips For Dry Eyes From Contacts

Dry, irritated eyes? One of the most common complaints that I hear about is dry eyes from contact lens wear. Tear Ducts. Tears are made up of 3 layers: lipid, aqueous and mucin. These 3 layers each have a part to play in preventing dry eye. The lipid (fatty) layer prevents evaporation. Discomfort : Deposits and over wear can lead to discomfort which people interpret as dry eyes.

Tips for Fixing Dry Eyes : Switching to a lens with lower water content or a rigid gas permeable lens if you are prone to dry eyes may help increase comfort. Some of my top lenses for comfort are the silicon hydrogel lenses including (by order of my favourites)
Air Optix come in a multi-focal and an astigmatic option, however, the Night and Day don't have multi-focal or toric lenses

If you are having symptoms of dry eyes or discomfort when wearing your contact lenses make an appointment to have you optician or eye care professional to get checked and possibly re-fit with a lens better suited to your needs.
